Mi 10 Pro is the latest addition to the Xiaomi family. It feels like a lot of thought has gone into getting this one out. It brings with it the whole package; great looks along with good performance. However, unlike its predecessors, it costs a lot more. This is a deviation from tradition for this Mi model.
Is it worth it? Let’s take a detailed look at this new model from the Xiaomi line of phones.
Design and Build:
The Mi 10 Pro comes with a one of a kind dual glass appearance. It consists of two Gorilla Glass 5 pieces and an aluminium frame sandwiched in between. There is also a matte glass panel on the back.
It has a 6.67” OLED Screen that is bright and lively. It supports a 90 HZ refresh rate and images look silky smooth. The fingerprint scanner is located at the bottom consisting of the latest generation of optical scanners making it fast and accurate.
At the back, Xiaomi has gone for a vertical setup for the cameras. It hosts the 8MP, the 12MP and the 108 MP primary camera. Outside the arrangement sits the 20MP ultrawide shooter camera. This is topped by a triple-LED dual-tone flash.
It comes with USB-C, but not a headphone jack; a sim card tray, but no microSD card slot. However, the phone doesn’t look bulky. It is slim and appealing and is available in two colours – White and Grey.
The only low is that it is not fully waterproof. Well you can’t have everything now, can you!
Performance:
The Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro runs on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 865 chip. It features the X55 modem that adds full–fledged 5G connectivity. The Adreno 650 is part of the snapdragon 865 and brings gaming possibilities to another level. On top of this, the manufacturer has also installed version 11 of it’s own MiUI. This offers additional visual tweaks along with numerous adjustments.
The phone comes with a Miracast, an IR blaster and a USB OTG. LPDDR5 RAM is supported and this is available with 8GB and a regional limited edition of 12GB. The storage options are 256GB and a limited option of 512GB. The downside is that it doesn’t support SD storage expansion.
The phone can also be used as a gaming device thanks to its advanced features. The phone does tend to get warmer after long sessions, but this does nothing to reduce the performance.
Camera:
With a one-of-a-kind design, as seen above, this one comes with three cameras in the back, one below the other. The topmost one is the 8MP hybrid zoom lens. Next comes the 12 MP shooter and the 50 mm lens. Below this is the 108 MP main camera. Lastly, outside this lies the 20 MP ultra-wide angle and macro shooter.
Thanks to these multiple cameras, any zoom upto almost 10x is quite good. The mid-range portrait lens is perhaps the best one that delivers an optical zoom of upto 2x and has excellent quality.
The front 20MP selfie camera is decent. Those taken with the portrait mode seemed to be better in quality.
The camera on this beast of a smartphone offers video capture that runs upto 8K. All in all, a robust camera setup has been provided in the Mi 10 Pro by Xiaomi.
Sound:
Rather than rely on a single earpiece, Mi 10 Pro boasts of two dedicated speakers on its top and bottom. The seven magnet arrays have a hi resolution audio and deliver clear, loud sound all on it’s own.
LHDC and aptX Adaptive codec are available, which means you have great options when it comes to Bluetooth.
Batteries:
The Mi 10 Pro is powered by a 4,500 mAh battery. It supports USB based 50W fast charging and also the QuickCharge 4+. Alternatively, you can use the 30W wireless fast charging via Xiaomi’s proprietary wireless chargers.
Should you buy it?
The Mi 10 Pro is a wonderful phone that has most of the items on a good phone’s tick list. The price at which it comes puts in with direct competition with the One Plus 8 Pro as well as the Oppo Find X2. If you are looking for a mainstream phone, there is always a Samsung or an LG to turn to.
However, for the price and the features it offers, the Xiaomi definitely comes out as a winner among its competition.
