Bluetooth Speakers now come in a variety of shapes, sizes, output power and design. However, this unique Bluetooth speaker made from a Porche 911 GT3 Exhaust is as much a Bluetooth speaker as it is a work of art.
The Porsche 911 GT3 is easily one of the best-sounding new cars on sale today courtesy of its maniacal 9000-rpm flat-six. Now Porsche Design thinks it can translate some of that auditory joy to a Bluetooth Speaker, which it’s selling for $3141 (€2900).
It’s easy to dismiss this as purely a gimmick, but the GT3 exhaust is actually functional. It uses the rear silencer and twin exhaust as resonators that Porsche Design says creates a deeper sound. We’d have to hear a comparison to see if that’s really true, but let’s be honest, even if the exhaust didn’t do anything, the speaker just looks cool.
As you’d expect from any piece of modern hi-fi equipment, the 911 Soundbar has Bluetooth, analog, coaxial and optical inputs. It also puts out a healthy 200 watts of sound, which is more than plenty for any room.
Is it expensive? Absolutely, especially considering you can get a solid Bluetooth speaker for a fraction of that price. But then again, most speakers are also pretty drab, while the 911 Soundbar borders on art. With that (perhaps flawed) logic, the 911 Soundbar starts to make sense. Right?
If you’re like most people, you’d want a ‘value for money’ Bluetooth speaker that’s easy on the pocket as well. If that’s you, here is a list of the best Bluetooth speakers that you can get in under just $100.
